How we use your data for the Powys Local Business Directory.

The Powys Local Business Directory is an online resource for

local companies to display their contact details and list their products and services. It is also a useful resource for organisations outside of the county borough to source local suppliers and contacts.

The directory lists businesses based in the County of Powys only - it is a free service provided by the Regeneration Service at Powys County Council.

When you register your business, you will have the option to receive the latest updates on funding available, business events and seminars and monthly updates through our digital bulletin; Powys Business E-News Service organised by Powys County Council's Regeneration Service.

The information that you provide will be used as indicated to promote your business to the public through the Grow in Powys Website. This will include Your :

​

  • Business Name

  • Business Address

  • Email Address

  • Telephone Number

  • Website address

  • Your business category description

​

The details that businesses and organisations provide will be published at the discretion of Powys County Council.  Incomplete entries may not be published. Business description categories may be amended by the site administrator  to ensure consistency of information provided through the website.

The website is available to Powys residents and businesses paying National Non Domestic Rates (NNDR) in Powys.

​

We collect the minimum of information from you to deliver the Business Directory service. We review the data that we hold every two years and remove inactive subscribers. In the event that subscribers no longer wish to participate in the service, or view their information then this can be done by contacting the regeneration service using the following contact details:

We use our website provider ,Wix, to publish your directory information using a sandbox database sytem. The sign up service is provided through our mail service provider Mailchimp which is used to to collect subscription details and the relevant information (above).

 

To operate the service it will be necessary from time to time to send update information and necessary service notifications to you. We may also use the @powys.gov.uk email facility to contact you directly on matters related to your subscription. In dealing with specific requests/ enquiries or changes we may also need to contact you by telephone.

The information that we collect from you is used for the following reason;

  • We require your email address to communicate with you.

​​

  • We require your name to personalise content and communicate.

​​

  • We require your business name to identify your business and establish legitimate interest.

​​

  • We need to understand your business sector activity to help us where appropriate tailor the event format for users.

​​

  • We require your address to understand geographic demand for planning future event locations.

​​

  • We require your language preference in order that we can provide the service in the language of your choice.

​​

  • We will monitor subscriber accounts to understand use patterns and develop our service to meet the needs of our users.

​​

  • We will use the information to produce aggregated anonymised statistical research that will support our economic development activity, eg, to support funding bids to Welsh Government for strategic regeneration projects in Powys. Your personal data will not be shared in this context.


The data that you consent for us to publish is in the public domain and will be accessible to third parties.
